The Axion AXN-6072 is a pretty standard quality 7-inch screen DVD player. It's the kind of DVD player that is good enough to entertain the kids on a long road-trip or flight. The main body of the player is pretty portable, with a fold down screen. However, the big NiMH (2300 mah) battery that clips to the end of it adds extra size, bulk, weight to the DVD player. Included in the box, you'll also get an AC adapter (which is amazing small in size), a car power adapter, a tiny card sized remote, AV cables (for input/outputting video), manual booklet, and the already mentioned... big NiMH battery. Here are the pro's and cons of the player from testing the movie "Bolt" on it.

Pros:
-Adjustable volume, and brightness controls.

-2 headphone jacks, so you can enjoy the movie with a friend.

-built-in stereo speakers

-There's a dedicated button for screen ratio "Wide-screen or Full-Screen" mode.

-Plays CDs and Mp3s

-The player itself (without battery) is small and very portable.

-Widescreen resolution is nice (720 x 480 pixels to be exact)

-Folding screen hinge is sturdy and stays well in adjustable position

-High Contrast ratio screen... the blacks get pretty deep.

-LCD screen has a "matte" surface as opposed to the "glossy screen"... which is nice to reduce glare. I know that some people prefer the glossy screen though... so this is a matter of preference.

-Battery does not over-heat during charging. And charge time is relatively short (2-3 hours)

-Built-in Stereo speakers can get pretty loud and sound ok. The quality of the sound when output to external speakers or headphones is also good.

-Battery (although big and ugly) does last very long... it lasted over 3 hours in my battery drain test. I used Spiderman the movie as my test DVD.Cons:
-The screen is high contrast, but you lose lots of detail in the mid-range. This means you get lots of white "hotspots" where it can block out much of the detail in the light colors.

-The Pixels can sometimes look jagged... this is especially noticeable with words and images with lots of detail. But if you view the screen from 2 feet or further, you probably won't notice it at all.

-The battery is big, heavy, and bulky. It's also a NiMH battery as opposed to Lithium Ion... which means you will have to discharge it (run it until it's dead) all the way before recharging it, if you want it to last. Otherwise, the battery won't last long.

-No carrying case included... but they rarely ever do include these. Conclusion:
For the price that this is being offered, it's actually a pretty nice and affordable little player. The biggest drawback is that the LCD screen could look better and the battery could be smaller or more integrated into the player. Keep in mind that I'm very very picky when it comes to LCD quality. If you're buying this for a child, I'm sure they'll be very pleased with how the screen looks. The color saturation is actually very good on it and it does a good job displaying the warm spectrum of colors. It's just the pixelation, bright hot-spots, and loss of detail (due to hot-spots) that annoys me. But this is a common issue for portable DVD players across the board. For what you get at this price, you couldn't really expect much more.
