(More customer reviews)I needed a LCD monitor in my van for the kids to watch dvds for long trips. I was going to buy a monitor alone and connect it to a stand alone dvd player, but when I saw this one with a dvd player built in I thought that I could use it anywhere. You can disconnect the battery if you want to. you can plug in the ac/dc plug in home, or 12v car power adapter for the car. It's very light and very/very! solid, (no plastic).
The bottom where the battery plugs in is actually the same size as a tripod shoe screw so you can mount it to a tripod. It has digital/optical outs and video/audio in/outs for video games. You can reverse the image if you want to mount the unit upside down. (tripod mount) like what I've done on my vans ceiling.
The only thing you need to remember is that unlike other dvd players this doesn't have a lid to protect the screen. But it does come with a nice protective bag. For transporting and a case to hang from your cars headrest.
